Problem
Early childhood education is vitally important for children to develop social skills and a love of learning that will support them to be successful in life. 90% of children's brains develop within the first 5 years of life. However, in Hong Kong, early childhood education does not receive the same attention as other parts of the education system.
There have been so many developments in best practice internationally and domestically for early childhood education but these are often not disseminated to childcare workers and parents. And as a result, Hong Kong's children miss out on the optimal learning environment to set them up for success later in life.
Our Mission
We want to develop a high-quality child-care centre (CCC) model through providing a holistic support to both child care workers and parents.
Our key aims include:
- Streamlining child care centres’ administration process
- Developing an extensive 0-3 curriculum framework for holistic child development
- Building capacity of child care centres to deliver quality educare
- Strengthen engagement and knowledge of families
Our journey so far
The Bright Start project is a three-year educational enhancement project organised by the Hong Kong Christian Services (HKCS) and driven by Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education (YCCECE).
